If you've been paying attention, you might have noticed some minor changes to the appearance of Google SERPs. Google quietly introduced Indented Search Results in October 2021 after months of testing. Although a change in SERP styles might not seem like a big deal, it could offer a special chance to advance your company's SEO strategy.
What are the Indented Search Results?
Indented Search Results are the search results that appear when Google is unable to detect the landing pages of a website for a specific search query or term. On the same SERP page, Google started displaying two results for the same website.
Unexpectedly, Indented Search results are appearing on a startling amount of SERPs—up to 40%, according to some estimates. Given how recently this new functionality was introduced, that is fairly important. The presence of indented search results merits notices just for that reason. But it goes further than that.
Above mentioned are examples of Indented Search Results. In the above case, There are 2 websites on which the Indented Search result has appeared. Here, for a particular search query, google is showing different links to the same website. Because Google is confused about deciding the right landing page for the entered query.
Indented Search Results Can Be Fixed
1. Keyword Optimization:
We should optimize the landing page for a particular keyword Google may be confused by the keyword density you have used on the pages. You should remove the relevancy of targeted keywords from the second page and have to increase the relevancy of keywords on the main page by increasing the density of the main keyword while taking care of Keyword Proximity and keyword prominence.
2. Internal Linking:
Using Internal Linking is another option to avoid this Indented Search result problem. Both users & search engines use links to navigate through your site and to find the content they want to find. Use internal linking on the page for which you want to remove the Indented result to a particular relevant page. Must use focus keyword as an anchor text. So that Google can determine which page is the target page for a specific keyword.
Reviewing the impact of indented search results on SEO
I would have to disagree with those who believe that indented search results are advantageous for your website.
The page you optimized for a certain term should, in my opinion, be the sole page from that site to appear for that query.
In addition to the advantages of a higher CTR, we are unable to predict which page a user would select if there are two options.
In the past few months, I've encountered this identical situation with a number of our clients. In every situation I've worked on so far, I discovered that getting rid of the Indented Search result improved the site's rating and traffic.
